Summary:

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is the capacity to tune into your own feelings, sense inner signals, and recognize how your feelings affect you and your performance. EQ allows managers to both recognize and better understand the emotions and drivers of ourselves and others. Everyone can benefit from developing foundational skills in communicating with impact. These skills will facilitate an avenue to develop and refine your communication skills. As managers, we need to engage with people on a daily basis. Sometimes our approach to conversations, people and topics can be challenging but it need not be.

Summary:

Feedback is a part of daily life yet we shy away from it in the workplace. How can we unlock the potential and the gift that feedback can provide? As a manager we want to develop our skills to give and receive feedback. Why? To accelerate the professional development of both you and your colleagues. Giving and receiving feedback will enhance communication and improve the organisational culture.

Have you heard the statement, “If you have a brain, you have bias?” Well it’s a harsh reality, and while we all like to think we don’t have bias, we do! Its not at a loss though, creating awareness around our biases will help us to mitigate them and create inclusive and diverse practices that are equitable for all.

There comes a point in all our careers when we need to be able to pull on those negotiations skills. Whether it is for that promotion, to increase our budget, or to take the team out on a reward day, negotiation is a part of management. What’s more, is where there is room to negotiate there is room for emotions to run. Complaint mitigation is crucial for maintaining positive relationships and in this module we will look at internal an external complaint handling.
